FRAGMENTS OF NATURE
Rock flakes, powders, dyes and binding substances: this is how marble agglomerates are born.
Selected raw materials that give life to materials adaptable to any need in the construction sector, managing to satisfy architects, designers and manufacturers who want to include in their project a unique and refined product.
The advantages of marble agglomerates over natural marble and granite:
1) Easily availability of the material
2) Better mechanical characteristics
3) Greater uniformity of color and grain
4) New aesthetic solutions
5) Mixing of different materials
6) Competitive cost
INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE TIPS
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
In order to have a workman like installation it is necessary to check the following preliminary conditions:
The substrates/screeds/stairs where the Marmi Scala marble agglomerate products will be laid must be clean, dry and seasoned and not contaminated with powders, greases, waxes or paints.
Marble agglomerate elements that need to be installed must be clean and dry. If the temperature range between the place of laying and the place where the marble agglomerate products were stored is sensitive, it is good to move the marble agglomerate products to the place of installation at least one day before installation so as to reduce the difference in ambient temperature and avoid any thermal shocks.
FLOORS
We recommend laying marble agglomerate floors with deformable/elastic glues with quick grip and hydration. It is also recommended to install the floors with the technique of double coating. The minimum joints recommended are 3mm for floors up to 60x60cm and 5mm for floors in a format greater than 60x60cm. In order to facilitate drying and avoid stagnation of moisture, it is recommended to dispel the floors at least 3-4 days after laying the floor with specific products for elastic joints. In any case, it is good to carefully follow the instructions provided by the manufacturers of the various products used.
STAIRS
It is good to carefully check that the treads and risers that are laid are clean and dry and that they do not have obvious moisture before being laid. It is advisable to use deformable / elastic glues with raptured grip and hydration applied with double coating technique on the entire surface of the product and not in points in order to avoid tensioning of different types.
It is also good to provide the following expansion joints in order to guarantee the possibility of expansion and movements: 10mm from side walls and minimum 2mm between tread and lift.
All the various grouting must be carried out with specific products of elastic type. In any case, it is good to carefully follow the instructions provided by the manufacturers of the various products used.
POST-INSTALLATION INDICATIONS
It is important to protect marble agglomerate materials after laying in order to avoid damage.
It is advisable to ensure that the floors and stairs after laying are protected from any drafts that could cause the product and glue to dry unevenly and create tensions of different types inside them. To this end, it is also advisable to cover the floors and / or stairs in order to facilitate a slower but uniform drying. Any uneven drying of marble agglomerate coatings can in fact cause tensioning that can then lead to cracks or cracks.
